The Medina County District Library and Feeding Medina County have joined forces to have patrons return overdue books and help feed the hungry at the same time.
The Food for Fines program was restarted in 2012 and has resulted in several thousand pounds of food donated to Feeding Medina County.
A donation of any kind of non-perishable food can be made. Here are the food bank’s top 10 foods needed: boxed cereal, peanut butter, canned vegetables, soup, stew, fruit, chicken or tuna, boxed pasta or boxed rice.
Donating food will eliminate the fine for one overdue library item.
The Food for Fines program ends March 31.
