Ohio State Highway PatrolThe Ohio State Highway Patrol is reporting zero fatalities, three injury crashes and 10 property damage crashes on the Ohio stretch of I-80 during the multi-state I-80/I-35 Challenge. The initiative began Aug. 28 and ended Aug. 30.

Troopers responded to 1,159 total incidents and issued 41 safety belt citations.

OSHP joined forces with local law enforcement to focus on the portion of I-80 in Ohio, which includes the Ohio Turnpike, with a goal of zero fatalities during the effort.

This high visibility initiative was led by the Iowa State Patrol and was planned to coincide with the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. It is supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and all 16 patrol agencies with responsibilities along these roads.

The public is encouraged to dial #677 to report dangerous or impaired drivers and drug activity.
