JOHN BACH 11 6 2015 2654Wadsworth senior cross county runner Jon Bach just missed out on being named as an “All-Ohio” runner in last Saturday’s State Cross Country Championship held just outside Columbus.

Jon finished in 33rd place in the Div. I Championship run. You have to be in the Top 25 to be named All-Ohio.

Jon’s time was good, as he broke 16 minutes for the 5K run. His time was 15:59.2. He missed the top 25 by a scant seven seconds.

Jon improved his State Championship time this year when compared with 2014. Last year, Jon finished 44th in the Division One championship race. His time last year was 16:18.31.

Jon qualified for the State Championship meet by virtue of his 8th place finish in the in individual competition in the Division One Tiffin Regional Wadsworth boys cross country coach John Burton has coached Jon for the past four years.

“Jon has been my best runner over the last two years,” said Coach Burton. “He’s been our No. 1. He’s doen well. He’s worked hard. Our goal last year was to break 16 minutes, that’s kind of a feather in your cap. This year, Jon ran a 15:50:59 at the Medina Invitational and just missed last weekend at Tiffin when he ran a 16:01.”

Jon says a number of colleges have contacted him about attending their school next year and participating in Cross Country. But, Jon says he has not made a final decision yet.

“Whatever happens, happens.”

Jon says his teammates helped him to get his times down.

“We push each other all the time so we can be the best we can be.”

Our congratulations to Jon Bach, State Qualifier in the Div. I Cross Country Championship!
