Blue Tip Festival 2015The MatchStick 5K/10K race is Friday night in Wadsworth. It’s one of the main features of the Blue Tip Festival. Close to 500 runners are expected to compete. Race organizer John Powell says the course is designed with the recreational runner in mind.

Participants will need to park vehicles at Wadsworth High School and a shuttle will take racers to Art Wright Stadium. (For more info on the race, or to see a course map: http://matchstickrace.com/).

If you aren’t running in the race, make sure to come out and support the racers by lining the 5K/10K route. The 10K route is a figure 8 course.

Of course, there is rain in the forecast for the twilight race, but northeast Ohio weather can change in a matter of hours sometimes. A little rain hasn’t stopped festival-goers from coming to the Blue Tip Festival. People continue to enjoy rides and fair food.

Jason Martin, ride supervisor foreman with Bates Brothers Amusement Company, travels 6 months out of each year to such festivals. Grizzly Nation is one of his favorite places to come every year.

“Wadsworth has always been a nice spot for us. The people are nice and we always have a nice crowd turnout.”

Day 4 of The Blue Tip Festival is Friday from 6 p.m. – 11 p.m. It wraps up Saturday night.
